The elephant in the room

Kathy Hull, founder of the first independent pediatric palliative care center in the US shares some heart warming stories of some of the children who have been residents. In this moving talk, she explains how providing a calm, peaceful and nurturing environment with the odd therapy camel visit can enrich the last days, weeks or months of a child’s life.

These lives of our young, so unfairly cut short, deserve to enjoy their final moments in an environment free from beeping machines, harsh fluorescent lights and the general hustle and bustle of a busy hospital. As she recalls, one parent told her there is no end of support services to help a child into this life, but so few to help them say their early farewell. Her center is run on charitable donations and the parents don’t receive any bill. If you would like to donate, please go directly to her website, read more about the Center and click on the orange donate button if you would like to help. The details are at the bottom of this page.

I have so much admiration for this wonderful woman and for all those children’s lives she has given dignity to in their final days.
